This is an exciting opportunity for a mechanical engineer with good stress analysis experience to join a well-established business that designs, manufactures and tests industrial turbomachinery supplied into the power generation, marine and rail traction industries.

As an experienced mechanical engineer you will join a small dynamic group responsible for the mechanical integrity of turbomachinery products. The grade and salary of this job will depend on experience and will be at senior, principal or specialist engineer level. Demonstrated knowledge of turbomachinery, particularly of turbocharger components is highly desirable for this job. Previous experience of mechanical analysis and life assessment of components such as turbines, compressors and their surrounding casings is ideal. You will work in close liaison with colleagues responsible for aerodynamic design and be able to adapt their design with your engineering input. There will be opportunities to lead engineering projects and interact with customers to meet strict deadlines for the introduction of new turbocharger products or upgrades. 

Person Requirements: 

- Degree qualified with significant mechanical content, and preferably a post-graduate degree focusing on rotating equipment

- Considerable experience of performing FEA using Ansys or Abaqus tools (lifing, fatigue, creep, structural analysis etc)

- Good knowledge of turbomachinery components life assessment would be ideal (other similar knowledge such as engine/powertrain components /rotating equipment would also be considered)

- Project leadership experience would be beneficial

- Ability to effectively communicate complex technical issues

- Enthusiasm for problem solving

- Rotordynamics knowledge would be advantageous
